The head of South West Trains (SWT) is due to “amicably” leave the company at the end of the month.
The news regarding Ian Dobbs came after an earlier announcement that 660 jobs were to be axed in a bid to reduce costs.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union said it would ballot members of three train operators, including SWT, about possible industrial action, but Mr Dobbs said he was not leaving on bad terms.
His replacement Brian Souter, chief executive of parent company Stagecoach, admitted there were challenges ahead.
He said: “In common with other transport groups, we have already started an extensive programme to reduce our cost base across all of our UK rail operations.”

I have also noticed that at Clapham Juntion they do not man the ticket barriers late at night - thus allowing people to travel without a ticket. As SWT keeps stating people who travel without a ticket are more likely to cause anti social incidents / commit crime - its clear there cut backs will send the crime rate rocketing
