OVER a hundred pupils from Feltham Hill Junior School took part in a competition to draw a ‘Snow in Spring’ last week, to celebrate the arrival of a new sculpture.
The competition was organised by property developers St James Homes and was held at their new development ‘St James Place’, situated off the Ashford Road in Feltham.
The task for the pupils was to draw ‘Snow in Spring’ - a sculpture by distinguished artist George Cutts - on view in the entrance square at St James Place.
The sculpture is a 3.5 metre, kinetic moving construction, with stainless steel discs that reflect the sunlight.
Although the judges were highly impressed with all the entrants’ work, the eventual winners of the competition were Joshua Bennell, Joshua Denis, Charlotte Wood, Emma Vinnand, and Liberty Waterman, who were each awarded art boxes.
The sculpture is part of a unique arts strategy undertaken by St James Homes that ensures the arts play a prominent part in all of its developments.
It is also one of the developer’s goals to become one of the largest private collectors of publicly accessible art.
