A CHISWICK company has become the National Champion for the educational sector in a competition by Broadband to find pioneers and best examples of innovative use of the internet.

Supported by BT, the Broadband Britain Challenge had been searching for people across the UK making innovative use of ADSL, the new fast internet access technology.

Semple Piggot Rochez (SPR) based in Chiswick won the educational sector award for providing legal training to students and practitioners over the broadband internet. It is the world’s first ever internet law school to offer online law degree programmes including the University of London’s LLB and LLM external degrees.

John Pitman, the publishing director for SPR, commented on behalf of the company: "We are delighted that our company has been recognised in these important awards. There is no doubt that without DSL broadband, the provision of credible internet based training at graduate level and above would be impossible."

Launched in May 2003, the Broadband Britain Challenge was created to search local communities to find people who are using ADSL in exciting and challenging ways, and in a way that others can learn from.
