An artist is hoping to trace a Hampton Court man who provided the inspiration for a portrait he is now hoping to exhibit.

Jiri Keller, from Fulham, bumped into this distinguished gentleman (pictured) on a District Line train shortly before Christmas.

Although he asked the man for permission to take the photograph Mr Keller explained he did not get his name or contact details and now wants to get in touch with him to ask his permission to display it an exhibition.

Mr Keller said: “I’m always on the look out for intriguing faces and was sat opposite this man with a most interesting face.

“I was so captivated that I introduced myself and asked if I could take a photograph. He agreed so I photographed him.

“He briefly told me he lived near Hampton Court but I was unable to elicit more information as he got off at the next stop.”

“I have now painted the portrait from the photo but I feel a little uneasy about exhibiting it because I got the feeling the subject didn’t quite believe I was genuine. I would like to get in touch with him, seek his permission to exhibit and reassure him that I am a bona fide painter.”
