We have much pleasure in announcing that Mr Andrew Carnegie, the multi millionaire who has done so much to establish free libraries through-out the kingdom, has extended his generosity to Twickenham and has offered £6,000 for a new public library in the town.
At the church of Holy Trinity Twickenham Green on Thursday, in the presence of a fashionable and numerous congregation, a marriage took place between Thomas Henry, son of Mr and Mrs Palmer of Stoke Newington, and Louise Caroline Frances, daughter of Mr and Mrs Tyler of Staines-road, Twickenham.
I would urge upon young players when they are given out in a doubtful matter to give the umpire credit for discharging his duties as fairly as possible. We all make mistakes and if people in everyday life were to take as serious a view of our errors as young cricketers do of umpires’ decisions I am afraid we should be somewhat unhappily situated.
