THE Orange Tree Theatre is looking for two girls aged between 11 years and 13 years to share a part in The Mob by John Galsworthy, which opens the next season at the theatre.

The play rehearses during August and then plays from September 3rd to October 4th.

Sam Walter’s the theatre’s artistic director, who will also be directing the play, says ‘‘We used local girls in two of last season’s plays - Saints’ Day and The House of Bernarda Alba but the part in The Mob is a much bigger and more important one than was the case in those plays and we are looking for a confident young women between 11 and 13 years of age. The age of the girl is not specified in the play but I think that thinking of her as a young 12 or so is probably right.’’ The play is about a rising politician who opposes the war into which the country is clearly going and who, because of his principles, puts his career, family and ultimately his life on the line.

‘‘This is all pretty relevant,’’ I feel, Sam Walters went on. ‘‘And the daughter of the politician finds herself caught up in a public family drama nd in the conflicts between her parents.’’ If there are any young hopefuls who feel they might fit the part, and are not off on a nice August summer holiday, they might like to contact the theatre by ringing Deborah on 8940 0141.
