An aspiring young actress from East Twickenham had an “exhilarating experience” during the filming of a new BBC3 sitcom.

Anabel Barnston, 17, of Para House Gardens, is currently starring in Coming of Age which takes a candid look at the outrageous lives of five sixth formers living in Abingdon.

Anabel plays Chloe, whose life revolves around college and her bedroom.

Coming of Age was filmed in front of a live audience at the BBC studios in Shepherds Bush.

Anabel said: “It was really different because I had never filmed in front of a live crowd before. It was the best of both worlds because you have the audience there and the pressure to get it right. It was relaxed, which is what I really liked.”

The comedy actress is enjoying her new found fame and has received great feedback. She said: “Recently I’ve had lots of people coming up and asking if I was the girl on BBC3. They really liked it and found it funny.”

She has also starred in The New Worst Witch, My Spy Family and stage show Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Anabel is studying at Richmond College for an International Baccalaureate. She said: “I would really like to do more acting, but it’s unpredictable so I do have uni as a backup.”

Coming of Age is on BBC3 on Tuesdays at 10.30pm.
