Sir – Last Friday the traffic in Sheen Lane was unable to move due to illegally parked cars.
Fortunately, emerging from the library car park was a parking warden in fine grey and green uniform. He would sort it out. But no, he wandered past in search of another car park to scrutinise.
Luckily observing the chaos were two of the Metropolitan Police’s finest community support officers. They would soon have things clear, at one point even walking towards the problem, but no they drifted east in search of more demanding crime-busting tasks.
Does anyone know which of the borough’s uniform-wearers deals with illegal parking? If not, save money and stop painting the red, yellow and white lines all over the borough.
