Mortlake’s Catherine Tate has said she would have loved the opportunity to continue as a companion on Doctor Who.
The comedian and actress who starred as Donna Noble in the sci-fi hit told Doctor Who Magazine she would have jumped at the chance to remain onboard the TARDIS following the events of Journey’s End.
Tate’s character, a temp from Chiswick, had her mind wiped by The Doctor in the final episode of the fourth series to prevent her newly acquired Time Lord mind killing her.
At the episode’s conclusion The Doctor tells Donna’s parents she must never be reminded of their adventures together or else she would die.
Tate said: “I knew that there would definitely be an end to Donna, at the end of the series.
“But had that not been the case, had it been open-ended, had there been potential for Donna to stay for another series, I must confess that I’d have said ‘yes’ like a shot.”
Speaking about the possibility of Donna returning despite the mind wipe Tate added: “Could Donna come back? Well, in science fiction anything is possible.”
