I tried the new Halloween-themed afternoon tea at the Richmond Hill Hotel and I couldn’t get over how cute it was.

On the doorstep of Richmond Park, Richmond Hill Hotel offers an idyllic city stay experience, with Georgian-themed rooms and views of the park outside.

I was invited to try their new Halloween themed afternoon tea, which also includes a themed tea for children, available for one week during the month of October.

This time afternoon tea was served at the 144 Restaurant in the hotel. The décor was simply beautiful, as it had a modern “Bridgerton” vibe, decorated with flowers hanging from the walls.

The afternoon tea will be available from October 23 until October 31, priced x for adults and x for children, with the option of an additional glass of champagne.

For the adults

The Halloween afternoon tea is a slight alteration on the traditional botanical afternoon tea that the restaurant offers.

The savouries included a range of sandwiches including a coronation chicken roll, an egg and cress sandwich, a salmon sandwich and a salted beef pastry.

Warm scones were also served with jam and clotted cream, along with a range of Halloween themed treats.

The sweet treats had the addition of some Halloween touches like chocolate shaped bats, pumpkins and spiderwebs.

There were a few familiar ones that I recognised from last time, although the flavours of them were slightly different to when I last visited.

The sweet treats included a cherry-flavoured cheesecake, a chocolate tarte, a coconut and lemon shortbread, a lemon and poppy seed cake and finally a carrot cake.

The flavours were slightly different from last time, so it didn’t feel like an exact copy of the tea I had tried before, and the Halloween touches really got me into the spirit of the spooky season.

I think my favourite was definitely the carrot cake, it was spicy and rich and also had a solid chocolate decoration on top.

For the children

The children’s afternoon tea has been designed for younger palates but is no less cute than the adult version.

For the children’s version they will get a selection of sandwiches, hummus and vegetables to dip into instead of scones, and a selection of Halloween-themed sweet treats.

The sweet treats consisted of a Skellington shaped gingerbread man, an eyeball shaped cake pop and bat-shaped chocolate.

The little member of our party enjoyed his sweet treats, with special attention paid to the gingerbread and candy floss.

All in all, I think this afternoon tea would make a great day out for the family this Halloween season.

The Halloween themed afternoon tea will be running at the Richmond Hill Hotel from October 23 until October 31.
