Two cars were written off and more smashed after a suspected drink driver slammed into before running off.

The crash woke up several households when it happened at 5.15am last Saturday morning.

Thornbury Rd, Isleworth resident David Pavett said: "We were asleep and we heard this loud crash. When I went to the window I saw smoke coming up over the trees.

"The car must have been going really fast because there was a 40 metre long skid mark in the road."

An axle of one car was broken, the side of a second vehicle was severely smashed in and two other cars were damaged by the speedster ploughing into them.

One resident saw two youths running away from the scene.

Two police officers attended at 6.30am and discovered the car had been stolen in Ealing. A man was later arrested in connection with the incident.

There were reports that the car smelled of alcohol inside.
