Contractors have been appointed for the £46million development of West Thames College.

Osborne's civil engineering company has been chosen for the two-stage design and build programme.

The site at London Road, Isleworth, will have three new buildings. Block A will have a refectory, library and a sports hall, Block B will be teaching space and Block C will house college administration on the ground floor and a theatre on the first floor.

Blocks A and C will be interconnected with an atrium, which forms the main entrance to the college. An area freed up by the demolition will be allotted for a new sports pitch for the college.

Main demolition works are due to start in July and the project will take place on a live campus, with the works due to be carried out in phases to minimise disruption and to enable all students to remain in residence on campus.

Construction courses, which are run by the college, will give students the opportunity to gain work experience on the site, so students can have a hand in the construction of their own college building.
