Rock legends REM are to play Twickenham this summer as one of a four-date UK tour.

The band - Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills- will finish their summer tour at Twickenham on August 30 after dates in Manchester, Cardiff and Southampton.

They are also playing the Royal Albert Hall next month.

Tickets for the UK stadium gigs go on sale on Friday.

The stadium, which is expected to attract 82,000 rugby fans for the England-Ireland Six Nations clash on March 15, will also host two Bon Jovi concerts in June.

Oh what fantastic news! More noise, disturbance & ruined weekends from our "good neighbours" at the RFU who seem to have conveniently forgotten that it's a RUGBY stadium.

Five concerts a year in 2008 and thanks to Richmond Council's obsequious planning department, next year it'll probably be even more.

Joe from Whitton sounds a bundle of laughs. Also Joe can you tell me the CONCERT only stadiums are? More concerts next year? Hope so because its good for the area. The stadium has been there far longer the most om the minority whingers who live in the area.

We've lived near the ground for years and the increasing number of events really effects our weekends so I for one don't welcome the extra concerts.

Does that make ME a "whinger" as well Andy?

Sean, Whitton - yes. Yes it does.
