First things first - save the date for next year’s black tie Richmond Spring Ball, when we celebrate the Richmond Business Awards 2021 Friday, 6th May 630pm pitchside at the home of England Rugby at Twickenham Stadium – a cool glitzy black tie event with Awards displayed on the giant screens in our very own Twickenham Stadium!
Friday’s Richmond Summer Ball at Twickenham Stadium saw more than 200 attend to celebrate their 2020 business achievements and the independent judging panel confirmed that they had witnessed entrants surpassing previous years’ high standards
with thoroughly impressive tour de force superlative efforts by directors and their teams. On the evening, businesses did not hold back in recognising others’ achievements, but also cheered on their own teams’ wins with all their energy.
Our wonderful Deputy Mayor Cllr Suzette Nicholson kindly presented the Commended and Highly Commended framed certificates to the proud winners, whilst the fantastic Richmond Business Awards sponsors handed out the Award trophies to our 14 excellent outright winners on stage with the generous assistance of Richmond and Twickenham MPs Sarah Olney and Munira Wilson and renowned UK broadcaster John Stapleton. We were extremely fortunate too to have the Leader Cllr Roberts, Business Spokesperson Cllr Richard Baker and National Archives Keeper and CEO Jeff James in attendance too.
We are so grateful to the independent highly professional Richmond Business Awards Judging Panel who maintain our high standards, our MC John Stapleton, our fantastic headline sponsor London Square and all our superb sponsors who made the whole evening possible: Twickenham Film Studios, Butterworth Laboratories, Be Richmond, Minesoft, The Lensbury, Richmond Council, Sheraton Interiors, Richmond upon Thames College, Newsquest, Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Twickenham Studios and Petersham Nurseries
for the stunning bouquets and potted heathers.
The Twickenham Stadium and Rugby Football Union teams deserve a special mention too for going above and beyond with an event that ran exceptionally smoothly with fine dining and service second to none. The Richmond Summer Ball kicked-off pitchside with a fizz reception in fabulous sunshine with guests arriving via the players’ changing rooms and tunnel to paparazzi on the pitch, then strolling up across the pitch to The Lock Bar and fine dining Ball space.
The short Awards Ceremony took place under the professional hand of John Stapleton, so that guests could enjoy a further 2 to 3 hours of dancing to The Allbeats and relaxed yet upbeat networking in the various chill-out spaces. Directors and their colleagues and teams felt the evening had ‘hit the mark perfectly’ being well overdue bearing in mind the difficult pandemic experience they and their teams had endured.
Not forgetting too that with more than 1,000 charities and non-profits in the borough, the Charity Award was hotly contested with The Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College RHACC coming out on top. You too had your say in the People's Choice category voting for your most popular businesses or charities in the borough and what a hard-fought race that was and how good it felt to win; just ask Studio K in Richmond!
With more than 5,000 businesses across the Borough The Best Business Award was also fiercely contested and it was The Petersham Nurseries that clinched this Trophy, as they had submitted a particularly comprehensive entry delivering outstanding results in particularly trying times. All Award winners are listed inside this supplement along with some of the judges’ comments assuring you an excellent read. Incidentally if Award entrants would like any feedback on their entries, contact us at email@richmondchamberofcommerce.co.uk – then enter the 2021 Awards which are to be launched very soon!
So what does winning these Richmond Business Awards mean and we could not express it better than previous Award Winner Sheraton Interiors’ MD Shehryar Khan, “Our sales went through the roof after winning the Best Start-Up Award 4 years ago due to the post Awards publicity and so we keep entering, reviewing what we do and improving to remain Award winning! We really enjoy and benefit from being a member of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce too and even last week a customer purchased a kitchen just because we are members of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce!” This we believe says it all!
