A Hounslow community group gave a special performance of a play at the House of Commons.

Trinjan's presented their fundraising play, Preeti, at an event hosted by MP Ann Keen and guests included constituents, councillors, business representatives and staff from the Mulberry Centre at West Middlesex Hospital.

The play, which sold out its two shows at the Waterman's Theatre, Brentford, in April, raised £5,000 for the Mulberry Centre - a drop in centre for people with cancer.

Preeti is a tale of young Asian men and women looking for love in West London. The comic quirks of dating and family match-making were enthusiastically brought to life by the talented amateur cast.

Before the performance Mrs Keen said: "Trinjan have done wonderful work in Hounslow, raising money for the Mulberry Centre and awareness of important health issues in the community."

Mohinder Dosanjh, the founder and chairman of Trinjan said: "It has been a wonderful experience to be invited to the House of Commons and given recognition for our work."

The event was an opportunity to thank Trinjan and help them keep raising awareness of their activities. Since being founded in 2004, they have raised more than £20,000.
