The first purpose-built temple in Hounslow celebrated a grand opening on Sunday to mark the completion of its first phase of development.
The Laxmi Narayan Temple in Neville Close, Hounslow, is now ready to perform religious ceremonies and cultural events after members of the Hindu Temple and Cultural Trust Centre and the community raised £675,000 to enable its completion on land bought from Hounslow Council.
More than 600 people attended the event, including Hindus and guests of other faiths.
Feltham-based MEP Robert Evans was a key speaker.
He said: "This incredible project represents a magnificent achievement by the people of Hounslow and the Hindu Temple and Cultural Trust Centre.
"All faiths and denominations are welcome to worship at the temple, take part in religious ceremonies or enjoy cultural events.
"It represents an opportunity to celebrate religious and cultural diversity in Hounslow."
GC Gaur, general secretary of the Hindu Temple and Cultural Trust Centre, said: "It has taken over 12 years but now thanks to the support of our members and the community the temple is now open to all."
