Police have charged a man with the attempted rape of a young woman in Colliers Wood.
An investigation was launched after a woman in her mid-20s reported that she had been robbed and assaulted during the night of September 5 by an unknown man in Prince George’s Road.
Joseph Galloway, 68, of Upper Richmond Road in East Sheen was charged on Monday, September 10 with attempted rape, false imprisonment and robbery.
He was kept in custody to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 11.
He was remanded by the court to appear at Kingston Crown Court on Monday, October 8.
Police have said that this case is in no way related to the rape of a woman in the early hours of August 30 at Wandle Park. There have been no arrests in relation to that case.
