A store which helps people with learning disabilities get paid work has opened in Twickenham.
Twickenham MP Sir Vince Cable did the honours when he opened The People Hive on Heath Road.
The store is run by RHLT and aims to raise awareness for learning disabilities in the community. It will offer work experience opportunities for people with learning disabilities, with the aim of getting them into paid work.
There were also be opportunities for paid work at the store later this year as well as an extensive activity programme.
RHLT Samantha Fÿn chief executive officer said: "The People Hive will be a community hub where all members of the community can come together whether it is by participating in a workshop or by volunteering to make a positive difference to the clients that use our services."
The store will sell ‘locally sourced, high-end and handmade goods, such as honey, jewellery, cards and much more.’ RHLT is also encouraging other charities to get in touch, with the view of working together.
