The old Minar restaurant in Hampton Hill could be turned into a boutique gallery and three two-bedroom flats.

There are currently three one-bedroom flats and the old restaurant, in 195 High Street, is boarded up.

According to the design and access statement in the planning application the existing shopfront “is in a state of disrepair and not in line with the character of the terrace”.

It’s believed by the developers that a shop might be “better suited to the high street”.

One of the prospective shops is IntersArt, an “international promoter of objet’d art and art consultancy” who offer modern art to corporate and private collectors.

“Their aim is to open a small boutique gallery space to display their art collection for people to admire and purchase,” said the statement.

“They felt that this site was best suited to their needs due to the demand of such objects in Twickenham.”

One of the new apartments would be created from the back of the old restaurant on the ground floor, with access from the back.

A two-bedroom apartment would be created on the first floor.

Two one-bedroom flats on the first and second floors would be knocked-together to make another duplex.

None of the apartments would provide affordable housing and there is no parking, but bike storage would be installed in the form of a swivel rack.

The exterior of the property wouldn’t be extended.

Neighbour notification began on April 13, but so far nobody has commented on the planning application.
