An eye-catching painting of dandelions by seven-year-old Nadia Boeva won this year’s trophy in the floral art competition held by Richmond Borough in Bloom.
Deputy Mayor, Cllr Benedict Dias, presented it to Nadia, from Collis Primary School, at a special ceremony at York House yesterday, April 24.
Her painting was chosen from many hundreds submitted by 27 schools in the borough and will illustrate the poster which publicises this summer’s gardening competitions.
The entries were judged in four age groups, with a winner and two runners-up in each group, and the overall winner chosen from the four top finalists.
Each of the 12 award winners received a certificate and prize of art materials at the ceremony attended by parents and teachers, followed by a celebration tea party.
