A law firm’s major trauma service has been shortlisted for an award for its work helping those recovering from injuries in serious road accidents.

Moore Blatch is up for the Claims Collaboration of the Year Award at the Insurance Post Claims Awards 2018 for its ground-breaking work with the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB).

Trevor Sterling, partner for medical relations and head of the major trauma service at Moore Blatch, said: “We are delighted to have been nominated for this prestigious award.

“We pride ourselves on developing innovative new ways to support our clients and secure the best outcomes.

“We are very proud of our collaborative work with the Motor Insurance Bureau, which has allowed us to focus on securing early and high-quality rehabilitation for our clients.

“Improving outcomes and our clients’ quality of life is central to what we do, and we are delighted by this recognition of our approach.”

MIB moved away from the typical adversarial, claimant vs defendant approach in favour of greater cooperation between the two parties.

The result is a patient-centred approach that helps injured clients access rehabilitation from the outset of a claim, improving health outcomes and minimising legal costs.

This innovative approach has been demonstrated by Moore Blatch’s work with a client who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple orthopaedic injuries following a road traffic collision with an uninsured driver in July 2017.

Moore Blatch pursued a collaborative approach with the MIB, with both organisations pooling their varied expertise to secure a speedy resolution of the claim - with a strong focus on providing quality rehabilitation for the client.
