The plight of a famous dog, stolen from Richmond Riverside, has reached the hearts of animal lover Ricky Gervais and other celebrities.

Winston the French Bulldog is a Warner Bros mascot and Instagram star who disappeared in Richmond on an evening walk on Sunday April 8.

Owner Cara Sheppard, managing director at Warner Bros De Lane Lea Studios, said: “There were quite a lot of people about and he went around the corner a few steps ahead of us and when we went around the corner he had literally vanished.”

A reconstruction of the evening, with a stand-in fawn French Bulldog, is planned to be filmed tomorrow, Friday 13.

Winston’s official position at Warner Bros is ‘Senior Vice President of Toys, snacks and shoelaces and chewable recreation'.

He is “very popular with clients” and often found with a “gaggle of women” around him.

“You can’t walk ten feet down Soho without someone stopping him,” said Cara.

He also has a dedicated Instagram following under the handle lord_winston_of_richmond.

Ricky Gervais, Sir Brian May and Gok Wan are amongst those to have contributed to the #WheresWinston campaign, tweeting news of his disappearance.

Police are treating his disappearance at theft, after viewing CCTV. Two other dogs were stolen in Windsor in the same 24 hour period.

There is a 'substantial' reward for information leading to his return.
