The drama of Jerusalem 2000 years ago came to Richmond this Easter weekend.

On Good Friday (March 30) an open air passion play was performed for its third year by an amateur cast, crew and choir from different Richmond churches.

The action started with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Whittaker Avenue, by the Old Town Hall, to represent Palm Sunday.

It then followed onto stages built in the square and at the Riverside Terraces between Jackson & Rye and Revolution.

Daniel the donkey arrived on time from Wales, and from much nearer so did 10 Roman Centurions, sound equipment, St Johns ambulance crew and a host of other support.

The action carried through to Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection and - despite the cold and rain - a large crowd of all ages came to witness the moving story.
