The Council is looking to develop a 'community hub' in Teddington after it said Elleray Hall was not 'fit for purpose'.

Currently, Elleray Hall is a popular daytime social centre for older residents. The Council said they value this service and hope in the future to provide a modern environment in a fit-for-purpose building.

Teddington residents, those who use Elleray Hall day centre, and users of two local charities for adults and children with disabilities, are invited to help shape plans for the new hub.

From February 21 – March 9, engagement will be carried out across the community, with information available online. A drop in session will also be held at Elleray Hall on the 28th February from 4pm – 8pm.

Councillor Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council joint deputy leader, environment, community and business, said: “This Council aims to put the community at the heart of everything we do.

“Over the past few years we have worked hard to develop a partnership with the strong and vibrant voluntary and community organisations across the borough. It is important that these groups and organisations have the facilities they need to provide the services that the borough needs in the future.

“Elleray Hall, RUILS and RAID are vital local charities. However, for clients at Elleray their building is not fit for purpose. Part of this engagement is hearing what is important to users and residents and how could they see a hub being developed in their local area.

“We know that continuity of service is essential. And, as part of any future proposal, we would therefore seek to minimise any disruption to clients and carers.

“It is important to note that these proposals are still in the very early days. And, at the moment we want to work with those who use the facilities and other local residents to help shape our future plans. There will be further consultation throughout this process.”

The drop in session will be on February 28 from 4pm – 8pm at Elleray Hall, Elleray Rd, Teddington TW11 0HG
