Marks and Spencer is selling slices of cauliflower wrapped in plastic for £2.50 and customers are not impressed.
As part of its new veggie range, M&S has launched “cauliflower steaks” which come with a sachet of lemon and herb drizzle.
People have taken to Twitter to ridicule the retailer.
M&S was mocked not just for the price but also for the potential environmental impact of the packaging.
Some people were concerned about the price by weight, calculating that the item amounted to almost £10 a kilogram for cauliflower, with one consumer posting: "You almost have to pat them on the back for getting away with that."
Much criticism was reserved for the packaging, which consumers described as "wasteful" and "ridiculous", and said M&S should be "ashamed".
Have a look at some of the comments below.
This is extremely laughable. Do M&S think that vegans are incapable of using a knife to slice their own cauliflower? What a wasteful use of plastic packaging.
