A Hampton kickboxer has made the astounding achievement of winning two professional European titles in just two weeks.

Jacob Wells, 25, fights in the super middleweight range (76-78kg) and trains up to twice a day in a gruelling regime.

He said: “I go to boot camp at the Marty Cox Gym where I am trained by Marty Cox Sr and Marty Cox Jr, ex world champion, so I could not be in a better place.

"I have trained under Marty since I was 17, my Granddad took me there.

"My Granddad and Marty helped in the early days; I would not have got to this point where I am without them.

"I'm very lucky to have them helping me and pushing me all the way and also my girlfriend, Jade, who has put so much time into picking me up at the gym after she does a long day of work."

The first fight, for the International Sport Karate Association, took place in Hatfield on November 4 and was against Essex kickboxer Charlie Bibby.

Although Wells was knocked down in the first round, he got back to his feet and resolutely finished the round in a draw, then went on to win the second.

The next fight against Zeith Mon, an American, took place on November 18 when Wells won the champion super middleweight title from the World Kickboxing Association.

Mr Wells added: "I look forward to Christmas and getting back in the ring in March where I am boxing for a title in Hatfield.

"Thank you to the boys I work with as well. I fight with my best mate Reece, I could not ask for any more then I have. You all made my dream come true."
