Richmond will be getting a taste of Australia when a new restaurant opens its doors this December.

From the team behind south London’s Bree Café, Antipodea is described as a “sophisticated sister” of the popular brunch spot.

Located on Hill Street, the restaurant will have a 50 cover dining room designed by Richmond-based studio Caulder Moore.

According to the team: “Modern Australian cuisine is known for its global influences and Antipodea will offer a taste of Sydney and Melbourne to Londoners with a well-travelled menu by executive chef Moran Etedegi.

“Antipodea benefits from a network of producers and provenance carefully curated by the Brew team over 10 years, including freshly baked bread daily from the Hellfire Bakery at Brew Putney, an in-house butcher, and herbs grown on-site by head gardener David Page.”

Morning visitors can expect “more than just avocado and toast”, with dishes such as Turkish poached eggs with hung yoghurt, hot chilli butter and toasted pide, while lunchtime will include house ground chuck steak burger and spiced cauliflower steak with hung yogurt, summer peas, baby gem, toasted cashews and caviar lentil salad.

Along with this, there will be new world wines on offer from Australia and New Zealand, imported directly from the vineyard.

A selection of craft beer and cocktails will also be available.

Antipodea will be located at 30 Hill Street, opening hours are 7am to 10pm Sunday to Wednesday and 7am to 11pm.

The restaurant is expected to open in early in the month, shortly after its launch on December 4.
