A warning has been issued after a 95-year-old Kew woman was scammed out of her life-savings.
Hazel was left devastated after on November 1 two men came to her home pretending to be from the council.

They said they were working in the flat above hers, which had a “bad leak”, and needed to access her home.
After asking Hazel to go into the kitchen to run the taps they proceeded to steal more than £5,000 in cash and jewellery.
Councillor Mark Boyle, cabinet member for housing, public health and community safety said: “I am always shocked and saddened to hear of scam artists taking advantage of our trusting and vulnerable residents and would urge people to exercise caution when someone is asking to enter your property.
“Residents should be particularly vigilant if approached by someone claiming to work for the Council or other official organisations.
“If you cannot verify their identity you should not disclose any personal details or let them into your home.
“You can check the identity of council staff by asking to see their council ID card or by calling the council.”
A Just Giving page was set up by kind neighbours after the incident, which has reached £3,185.
