Marble Hill House has been chosen as one of the filming locations for a brand new TV series from ITV and Amazon based on Thackeray's classic novel Vanity Fair.

The seven-part drama stars Olivia Cooke as Becky Sharpe and Tom Bateman as Captain Rawdon Crawley.

Doctor Foster’s Suranne Jones has joined the ensemble as Miss Pinkerton and Michael Palin will play Thackeray.

Filming will take place in three stages; from November 13 to 22, from December 13 to 23, and from January 3 to 5.

The majority of the filming will take place inside the house while it is closed for annual conservation works but a few scenes will be filmed outside.

Marble Hill Park will stay open, although some areas near the house may be closed for the production.

Abi Marsh, English Heritage’s area manager in London, said: “This is exciting news and will be a great showcase for Marble Hill House; its starring role in such a high-calibre TV series means that more people will discover this beautiful and fascinating property.

“This is a major production but the park and café will be unaffected and we will work with the production company to ensure the disruption to the car park is kept to a minimum.

“English Heritage is a charity and every penny we receive from hosting this TV production will go towards looking after Marble Hill and the other historic sites in our care, many of which are open for free.”

During the shoot there will be restricted parking but an effort will be made to “keep disruption to a minimum”.
