Two promising ‘Chess Grandmasters’ from The Falcons Pre-Preparatory School for Boys in Chiswick have competed in the national Gigafinal Chess competition.
Sammy Barrett and Leo Hopkins, both six years old, represented The Falcons Pre-Preparatory School for Boys at the competition, where they determinedly competed for a place in the final.
With Sammy scoring a commendable four out of six points and Leo scoring three out of six, the boys put on a challenging performance.
Headmaster Andrew Forbes said: “We are incredibly proud of Sammy and Leo and their fantastic achievements; they have represented the school tremendously.
“We are delighted that the pupils have shown a real interest in chess, with 50 of them attending the club in their own time. The game teaches the boys reasoning skills, patience and strategic thinking – great for helping to prepare for the 11+ examinations.”
