Worried about your newspaper being delivered late? There's no need to fear if your paperboy is Richard Klein.

The Twickenham schoolboy, aged 14, is one of the fastest sprinters in the UK for his age.

He discovered his talent after competing in his school sports day at Christ’s School in Richmond, where he broke records, including at 60 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, and the javelin.

After encouragement from his PE teacher, he joined Belgrave Harriers Athletics Club and won seven medals and numerous titles, including first place in the London Championships four times in a row.

On the thrill of competing, Richard said: “If it’s a big competition it’s good because you get the surge of excitement, you’re a champion and no-one else beat you.”

“It’s really cool, you look around the stadium and everyone is cheering.”

But Richard is still keeping his feet on the ground (just) with his paper round for Meet & Deep Newsagents in Hampton Road.

And each day he balances his training with his school work and delivering newspapers.

Richard said that unlike professional footballers, athletics stars have a good attitude and won’t put-down athletes that beat them. And he remains modest about his success, putting it down to his gruelling training regime.

He said: “You can’t be naturally talented. Last year I came sixth out of eight, it’s the hard work not the talent that counts.”
