A Northfleet heroin dealer who threw his stash over a wall as he tried to run from police has been jailed for almost four years.
Calvin Lumedo, 21, had been seen acting suspiciously in Wycliffe Road and tried to flee from officers - but he was found with £346 in cash and a mobile phone with text messages asking for drugs.
He had also tried to throw 31 wraps of crack and heroin over a wall prior to being arrested on January 2 this year, say police.
Detective Constable Mark Donovan of Kent Police said: "Lumedo was arrested as a result of some really robust policing by local officers and ultimately this has prevented a significant amount of drugs from being distributed onto the streets of Gravesend.
"Criminals like Lumedo wrongly believe they can operate with impunity in areas such as Gravesend, but I’d like to reassure residents there will be no let-up. Drug dealers who try and operate in this town can expect a robust response and ultimately a prison sentence."
Appearing before Maidstone Crown Court On October 4, Lumedo, formerly of Anerly Road, Norwood, pleaded guilty to charges of possessing heroin with intent to supply and of possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply.
He was sentenced to three years and 10 months imprisonment.
