Green fingered volunteers are needed to plant daffodil bulbs on Barnes Green this Halloween.
Working with Richmond Council and the Barnes Community Association (BCA), the village’s community group, volunteers will plant assorted daffodils with varied flowering periods to create a “spectacle of colour on Barnes Green when they come into bloom”.
Councillor Pamela Fleming, cabinet member for environment, business and community said: “Last year, with the help of volunteers, there were over 4,000 daffodils and crocus bulbs planted on Barnes Green.
“This year volunteers will be planting a stretch along the Crescent hedgerow with a variety of daffodils.
“If you’d like to take part this year, volunteers will be meeting in front of the entrance to Age UK Barnes Green Centre.
“So come along and take advantage of a great opportunity to get out and contribute to the improvement of our beautiful parks.”
Volunteers should bring appropriate footwear and if possible a stout spade.
Daffodil planters can simply turn up at the entrance of Age UK Barnes Green Centre on October 31 at 9.30am but to enquire more or to register interest contact commonkeeper@barnes-ca.org.
