A competition for pupils across Wandsworth who can win their school a £1,000 prize, medals and a plaque is now open.

Children, parents, teachers and head teachers from each of the winning schools will also be invited to a town hall prize giving evening, and there will be a chance to enter a poster competition with the winning entry being displayed across Wandsworth.

The fourth annual Wandsworth/GLL Heritage Awards for Schools is now accepting entries from all borough schools at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.

Our Lady of Victories School won the 2017 edition, with All Saints Putney and St Boniface of Tooting were highly commended.

Our Lady of Victories explored the history of their area, and St Boniface researched the background of Mr Drouet’s Establishment for Pauper Children with All Saints looking into the story behind Putney Velodrome and Ranelagh House.

Each team won £600 for their respective schools.

The competition is sponsored by Greenwich Leisure Limited, the council’s library and heritage service contractor.
