Young patients at Darent Valley Hospital were given a ballet workshop by the English Youth Ballet ahead of their performance at the Orchard Theatre later this month.

Cast members of Sleeping Beauty demonstrated a short ballet class and then performed to some of the patients at the Willow Ward of the hospital.

The dancers performed the Relatives Dance from the prologue of Sleeping Beauty.

Play specialist Donna Day said "The ballet girls were amazing.

"You can really see up close the hard work that goes into it. It has been a pleasure having them on the wards for the patients. It has been something very different for them and a great distraction for the patients and the staff."

The English Youth Ballet will be raising funds for the Willow ward at the performances of Sleeping Beauty at The Orchard Theatre from 25 - 26 August.
