Kew Gardens has added some rustic British charm with its latest attractions this summer as it welcomes its very own treehouse and a host of family activities.

The Royal Botanic Gardens is inviting visitors to escape the city and explore its newly opened Woodland Walk and Woodland House, in the ‘Natural Area’ of Kew’s native woodlands, from July 22.

Nestled amongst British Native trees, in the natural area, the new Woodland House will host Kew’s summer pollinator activities for all the family to get involved with.

Richard Barley, Director of Horticulture, Learning & Operations said: “This summer we are excited to be offering an opportunity for visitors to discover and learn more about our own native British trees.

“The recently opened 300m Woodland walk explores a newly accessible part of the Gardens and takes visitors on a stroll among some of the UK’s best loved and admired native gems.

“We hope this will give visitors valuable insight into the importance and beauty of these trees, as well as a wider understanding of the threats and diseases that they face, and what action must be taken to help them thrive.”

Guests can also visit the gardens' first virtual reality treetop tour or take a virtual trip to the countryside with nature-based activities in the Insect Adventure Camp.

Gina Koutsika, Head of Visitor Programmes, Events and Exhibitions at RBG Kew said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors of all ages to Kew this summer.

“We are excited about shining a spotlight on a different and truly magical area of the gardens, one that showcases the importance of natural areas.

“I’m confident that every member of the family will have the opportunity to have fun, relax and reconnect with nature as well as get practical and learn about insects and bees and their importance for the future of our planet“.
