A pensioner has been jailed following a series of sexual offences on disabled, elderly women in Hounslow.

John Muttitt, 78, from Walnut tree Road in Brentford, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment for two counts of sexual assaults at Isleworth Crown court on May 26.

Mr Muttitt is a self-employed delivery driver for a local pharmacy and would provide medication to patients at their homes and care homes throughout Hounslow and Isleworth.

PC Ben Lawrence-Smith, from Hounslow Community Safety Unit said: "Muttitt took advantage of the fact that these victims were elderly, vulnerable, and often living alone.

“Due to having mobility issues the victims used a pharmacy delivery service as a way of obtaining their medication without difficulty and Muttitt abused his position of trust.”

Despite being advised not to enter the properties or answer medical queries, the driver abused his position and was accused of inappropriately touching his victims whilst pretending to carry out medical examinations.

Mr Muttitt was first reported to the police for sexually touching a partially blind and deaf victim in 2013 and two further almost identical incidents were reported in August 2015 before he was finally charged with four counts of sexual assault on July 16 2016.

“There may very well be other victims who have yet to come forward,” added PC Lawrence-Smith.

“We know that Muttitt was delivering medication to patients in the Hounslow area between 2010 and 2015 and would urge anyone who has yet to come forward to do so."

The self-employed worker was found not guilty of the alleged offence involving his third victim and the jury failed to reach a verdict in relation to a second offence involving his second victim.

Mr Muttitt will serve his sentences concurrently after he was imprisoned for 15 months for his first assault and 18 months’ for abusing his second victim in 2015 - who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson's and has a speech impediment and mobility issues.
