An event aimed at residents who want to know more about the impact from Heathrow expansion will be hosted by Twickenham MP Dr Tania Mathias later this month.

The meeting, on April 28, will be held in Teddington and is to feature short presentations and a question and answer session.

Event organisers Teddington Action Group (TAG) hopes it will give the public the chance to make better-informed contributions to the Government’s consultation, which closes on May 25.

TAG campaigner Jayne Chance said: “We just want people to be aware and, whatever their position, to participate in the consultations.”

Speakers include Lord Nick True, Cllr Martin Elengorn and and TAG – who are all campaigning against expansion.

Ms Chace said: “Most people speaking are opposed to expansion and will provide facts on why it shouldn’t be expanded.

“However, nobody is excluded and during the Q&A anyone may speak or challenge.”

The Government ran a series of consultation-information events earlier this year, but no more are planned.

Ms Chace said: “There’s no point in living in a democracy if you don’t voice your opinion. And if you don’t, you have no right to complain afterwards.”
