A Metropolitan police officer has been charged with attempted rape.
James McKibbin, 30, a constable who serves Richmond Borough was charged on Monday, November 7.
The alleged offence took place when the officer was off duty and is alleged to have occurred between January and December 2012 at a location in South Croydon.
He was bailed and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, December 5).
McKibbin was arrested in April 2016 following an investigation by detectives from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command.
The officer is currently on restricted duties.
