A mystery man who dresses as a white rabbit every month and waves to passing commuters in Barnes has gone viral.
The costumed rabbit was photographed by numerous passers-by near Barnes Bridge yesterday morning, leading to national news coverage and numerous people questioning his identity on social media.
The 6ft tall rabbit, scantily clad in a colourful waistcoat and scarf, makes an appearance on the first day of every month.
Elizabeth Ammon tweeted: “On the first of every month there's a bloke who dresses as a white rabbit and stands by the river in Barnes waving at people.
Betsy Lewis-Holmes tweeted: “Happy that the white rabbit of Barnes is getting some media attention!”
Sarah Travers tweeted: “What on earth was this white rabbit doing at 8am this morning on the terrace? #mysterybarneswhiterabbit.”
The man, who has been named online only as Spike, runs his own Facebook page called I Am White Rabbit.
The page contains inspirational quotes, videos and even a picture of the rabbit standing outside the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The page says a “welcoming wave and hug” awaits passersby.
This website approached the mystery masked man for comment, but was told the rabbit was too busy “munching on carrots”.
