An elite police task force had to be called in after alleged burglars barricaded themselves into storage units they had broken into in North Sheen.

Police were called to Sandycombe Road at about 9.45am on Saturday, June 25, to reports the units had been broken into.

Five people had barricaded themselves into the units and police were unable to force entry to get them out.

They called for help from the Territorial Support Group (TSG), as well as the London Ambulance Service, in case there were any injuries, at about 1pm.

TSG, which deals with terrorism threats, disorder and priority crime across the capital, managed to gain entry at 1.05pm and five men aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage.
