A painting by a Teddington artist has been displayed at the National Portrait Gallery after being selected from 2,557 entries from 80 countries.

Teri Anne Scoble’s “The 271 from Arsenal” was selected for this year’s BP Award Exhibition and features two young boys waiting at a bus stop.

Ms Scoble’s portrait “Mrs Damon and Mrs Healey” was chosen for the 2013 exhibition.

The BP Portrait Award is considered to be the most prestigious in the world with a top prize of £30,000 and the possibility of a National Portrait Gallery commission.

The artist said: “Being selected in 2013 certainly changed my life and to be chosen again this year feels very nice indeed.

“It helps to justify the heart rending and difficult decision I made to close the Teddington based 'Go For It Theatre School' a few years ago, in order to concentrate solely on choreographic work and importantly, my painting.”
