Impatient people waiting at a level crossing in Barnes took their lives in their own hands by forcing their way across rail tracks.
The shocking footage, posted on Twitter by BBC Radio London, shows nine people making their way across the tracks in Vine Road.
It is not clear when the video was taken.
A Network Rail spokesman said: "There are currently delays of up to 15 minutes at the crossing caused by trains shunting in and out of Barnes station due to engineering works further down the line.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience that this causes and ask that pedestrians bear with us while the work is taking place and to stay safe by waiting for the barrier to rise before crossing the railway.
"We are aware that people have been using the crossing while the barriers are down which is extremely dangerous and we take incidents like this very seriously."
