Archaeological remains have been unearthed at Crane Park Island Nature Reserve, following a conservation project.
The find came following a 12 month council-funded project which cleared a considerable amount of vegetation at the site of the former Hounslow Gunpowder Mills.
London Wildlife Trust, which runs the site, was awarded £4,950 from Richmond Council’s Civic Pride Awards to carry out the project.
Council cabinet member for the communities, Councillor Susan Chappell said: “Crane Park Island Nature Reserve is a fascinating place to visit and we’re delighted that our Civic Pride Award has been of benefit and even helped to unearth an archaeological finding.”
