A shopkeeper could face jail after admitting touching a teenage boy's groin and running his hand up his trousers in a Twickenham off-licence.

Manmeet Singh, who lives in Wheatlands, Heston, touched the 13-year-old , who was wearing his school uniform, in Bubbles, Heath Road, on July 3, 2015.

The 30-year old, who appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court this morning wearing a multi-coloured sweater and glasses, switched his plea to guilty as his trial was set to begin.

The young complainant told police: "Suddenly, without warning, he stepped towards me and his hands reached down towards my lower groin area.

"He made a scooping action and his hand ran up the front of my trousers".

The boy said the incident left him feeling "immediately sick".

The sexual assault was witnessed by the boy's friend and Singh, who spoke through an interpreter, only changed his plea after police produced CCTV footage of the incident.

Singh has no previous convictions or cautions but could face up to one year in custody.

He will return to the same court on January 26, when magistrates will decide whether to sentence him or commit the matter to crown court.

Bubbles will have its premises licence reviewed by Richmond Council's licensing sub-committee on January 12 after a shop assistant was caught selling alcohol to underage childen in a police sting.

It is the second Twickenham newsagent in a week to be hauled before the committee, with Popular Food and Wine's licence being debated tonight.
