Proud: Hampton's Carol Stokes is the first woman to be appointed as club captain at Fulwell Golf Club
Fulwell Golf Club have broken with tradition and moved into the 21st century by appointing a woman as its club captain for the first time in its history.
Carol Stokes officially takes up the post at the 111-year-old club today having been elected last year.
“I’m very proud to be the first lady to captain the club,” said the 69-year-old.
“I never thought it would happen, but we have finally got equality at our club.”
Stokes, who lives in Hampton, has chosen to support Twickenham0based charity Otakar Kraus Music Trust.
