Ambitious plans for a new pre-prep at Newland House School, Twickenham, are beginning to take shape, with the building set to open in September.

A group of reception pupils, sporting tailor-made hard hats and hi-vis jackets, were given a special tour of the partly-constructed building last week.

The development will join together the school's two Waldegrave Park buildings, one of which is an adapated Victorian building the school has used since 1974.

Site engineers showed the children where their new classrooms will be and showed off the views of the prep school playground from the large windows.

Headteacher David Alexander says he is "delighted" with the progress

Headteacher David Alexander said: "I am delighted by what we have achieved in such a short space of time and that the project is on target for completion according to plan.

"I can see we have the makings of a inspirational learning environment and look forward to seeing our pupils fully utilising and enjoying what will be a truly exceptional new school building next autumn."

The received planning permission for the expansion last year, which allowed for the demolition of a residential building which the school bought in 2005.
