Haymarket's 1,000-strong workforce has moved to Twickenham, as the media giant relocates from its Teddington Studios base.

The company moved 250 of its staff to Premier House, London Road, ahead of moving the rest to the redeveloped Bridge House, in the same street on Friday.

The group has relocated is headquarters to the four-floor 34,000 sq ft office after 10 years at the historic Teddington Studios site.

Teddington Studios, where some of Britain's best-loved comedies and chat shows were filmed, is to be demolished and replaced by a 213-flat development.

Haymarket CEO Kevin Costello said: "Our relocation to Twickenham represents an exciting new chapter for our UK business.

"Following the sale of Teddington Studios, we are primed for investment and the relocation to new premises has given us the opportunity to create a new working environment, better suited to the requirements of a modern day media company.

"Haymarket has a proud history in the borough of Richmond and we have exciting plans for the future, including an innovative new tech hub on the Richmond Education and Enterprise Campus."

Haymarket has backed out of plans to house its UK headquarters on the developed Richmond College site.

The group plans to base just 20 staff on the campus, to provide creative and digital expertise as part of a "tech hub".

Permission to build on the site, where film studios first arrived in the 1910s and which has hosted Morecambe and Wise, the Benny Hill Show and Harry Hill's TV Burp, was granted in return for an £8m contribution towards affordable housing in the borough.

The development, which will include a public riverside walk, was approved by Richmond Council's planning committee in October 2014.

The studios site was sold to Singaporean developers City Developments for a reported £80m, with contracts exchanged earlier this year.

Twickenham MP Tania Mathias added: "Haymarket's relocation accentuates that central Twickenham is changing for the better.

"As the area regenerates, I believe Haymarket will be a magnet for digital businesses.

"The development of the Richmond Education and Enterprise Campus is also incredibly positive - by reaching out and sharing their expertise, businesses like Haymarket will strengthen our community."
