The body of a man was pulled from the River Thames in Strawberry Hill this morning.

Officers recovered the body from the water at Swan Island, near Radnor Gardens, after receiving a report from a member of the public at 10.06am.

Police believe the discovery is in connection with missing person Anthony Parillon-Ojeer, 32, last seen in The George in Twickenham last month.

His next-of-kin has been informed of the discovery, but no formal identification has taken place.

The death is not thought to be suspicious.

The development came hours after his mother, Maureen Ojeer, issued a heartfelt appeal for him to "come home" to this newspaper.

Speaking this morning, she said: "[His disappearance] has been a massive shock - we are all just trying to hold on and be strong for when he comes home.

"All he needs to do is jump in a taxi and come home, we will worry about the costs.

"There will be no questions asked and we will move on from there, we just want him to come home.

"It has been very debilitating for the whole family."

Mr Parillon-Ojeer, an electrician from Ealing, was last seen wearing jeans, a shirt and a black woolen overcoat.

He was last seen in The George pub in King Street shortly before midnight on October 31.

His mother added: "The one thing is he was feeling a bit depressed of late but he is not medicated or anything.

"We just want to appeal to anyone out there who has seen any little thing to call the police."

She also said that Mr Parillon-Ojeer was a Tottenham Hotspur and rugby fan and was "born and bred in the area and never really deviated".

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
