A nine-year-old girl has been hit by a car near Kew Bridge.
The girl has been taken to a "central London hospital" with what had initally been feared to be life-changing injuries. This has been downgraded to serious but no longer life-threatening or life-changing.
Norman Hayes, who was in Kew Bridge Road shortly after the crash, said: "I saw the clothes and trainers in the road and loads of police."
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the crash happened at about 4.30pm and that officers had been alerted by the London Ambulance Service.
The crash, involving a Peugeot 206, was near Kew Bridge Station and the road by the busy Kew Bridge junction was closed until 6.50pm.
The driver stopped at the scene and there have been no arrests.
